Recently I did a photo session for the lovely Sarah and her cheerful son Alex at Heaton Park, which is one of my favourite locations to photograph.
Family Photography in Manchester
The reason for choosing the location was different this time. As Sarah is expecting and could not walk uphill we decided to choose Heaton Park Tram Stop as the meeting point. This was also convenient for her as she would be coming by bus.
Preparation for the photo shoot
We were a little concerned about the weather, but fortunately the weather was good on the day. We also gave a little time after reaching the location before the photoshoot to get fresh and to have a coffee and breakfast. When Sarah and Alex were ready for the photo shoot, we walked towards the grassy hills near the Farm centre. We did not force a continuous photo shoot as it would have been uncomfortable for Sarah while expecting and with a toddler. I had also taken a rattle to keep Alex’s attention while I was photographing him. It was very nice of Sarah to come for the photoshoot even though her auntie is a photographer!
Natural and candid photo shoot
We let the child play around freely and did not direct him. It is difficult for both the parents and the children to force them to sit still in one place. The grassy hills provided a large space for him to run around and play and be himself. There was a fun fair opposite the chosen location and the music of the rides prompted Alex to want to dance! Due to this, the photos came out well and I was happy about it too!
Variety of images delivered
Although I had photographed at the Heaton Park before, choosing a different area provided a different backdrop to the photos I had already made. I offered a variety of images of the child alone, and also of the mother son duo. The images were delivered to Sarah in a beautiful online gallery.
