Recently I did a photo session for my lovely client (who wished to remain anonymous) and her family at Heaton Park, which is one of my favourite locations to photograph. I had suggested Fletcher Moss Botanical Gardens at first as it is closer to them. But after seeing some of my earlier sessions, she wanted their session at Heaton Park too 🙂
Manchester Family Photography
The first location we chose was the flower garden at the Orangery in Heaton Park. The next day we chose a change of location and went to the greenery near the tram lines in Heaton Park. As the areas in Heaton Park offer diverse backdrops, there is a variety to the photographs made. It also greatly helped that the weather was much better on the second day and also there was a vintage bus rally going on, which the child was excited to watch!
Time of shoot
The photo shoot was initially scheduled for the Saturday morning. But weather was not co-operating and as the little girl was feeling cold and probably teething too, she was not in a mood to be photographed. So we agreed to reschedule the session to the afternoon the next day. As you can see in the pictures below, what a difference a day made!
I had taken a teddy bear and a rattle to keep the child interested in the photo shoot. The soft toy helped to make some cute solo pictures of the child. A blanket for the family to sit on the grass also helped to get some variety in posing.
The previous two photo sessions I had done were Mother – Son duos. This was my first photo session with a three member family. I did some photos of all of them, mother-daughter, father-daughter and then took some with the child alone. The mum and dad had a nice day out at the park as they would normally have gone, without being conscious of being photographed. I’m happy that this made for some beautiful, natural photographs.
Digital gallery and print photo book delivered
Although I had photographed at the Heaton Park before, choosing a different area provided a different backdrop to the photos I had already made. I offered a variety of images, delivered to my client in a beautiful online gallery. She also ordered a photo book and was very happy with the quality of paper and printing.
Seeing your photos online and holding those in print are entirely different experiences! By ordering a photo book you can keep it at your coffee table and your visitors can browse through. It can even be the attraction of your family get together! Flipping through the pages of a photo book makes for some interesting bonding experiences in a family setting too.
